In this personalized two-hour wheel throwing lesson, students receive individual guidance from an experienced pottery instructor. The session begins with a brief introduction to the tools, materials, and techniques used in wheel throwing. The instructor demonstrates key steps such as centering the clay, opening the form, pulling walls, and shaping the vessel.
The student then practices on the wheel, receiving hands-on support and tailored feedback throughout the process. With close attention to posture, hand positioning, and pressure control, the instructor helps the student refine their technique and build confidence.
Clay must be purchased separately. Tally Clay Supply sells clay here locally. Any white stoneware is preferred. B-mix is the most popular, which is linked above. I will have some white stoneware WC-609 for sale also, if you prefer to buy from us.
Tools are provided, but if you have any favorites you'd like to use, feel free to bring them along. No prior experience is necessary—this lesson is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to improve their skills.
Students who sign up for 3 or more lessons are able to glaze and fire their work in our kilns.
Please select a day and time that works best for you.
EXAMPLE: If you sign up on Thursday May 1st and choose the Monday 11am timeslot, then your first lesson will be Monday, May 5th.
Please reach out if you have any concerns with the days and times available.
